Preggo! FAQ Fun!

Well, as one may have surmised from facebook posts, the frumpy loose and comfy clothing I’m wearing now (super unusual for me), the haze of bug spray every time we step outside, or my unstoppable radiant glow (cue knee-slapping laughter): the third baby is in the oven!

When we were pregnant with Adalyn, we had this special journal we wrote letters to her throughout the pregnancy. It was very sweet. And clearly a one time thing. #newparents
With Bria, I wrote down what was going on every few months. I think.  Somewhere.
With #3, I’m remembering to take prenatal vitamins! Two points for me! And now a third point for updating the blog with preggo scoop!

One thing I’ve noticed is that I’d totally forgotten the regular questions mama-to-be gets asked at least daily. I don’t mind this at all, but for the blog update, I thought I’d comprise a brief list of the Frequently Asked Preggo Questions and our relevant answers.

How are you feeling?
Thus far, alarmingly normal. I eat often, with food being the main craving. I would say I’m more tired than usual, but I blame that 85% on current munchkins, 10% on life, 2% on new addiction to watching Parks and Rec after bedtime (how did we not watch this before??) and 3% on Baby.

Sheaff says I’m more temperamental with this pregnancy. That went over really well (don’t worry; he’s alive).

The only real symptom I can pinpoint is hot flashes. Given that I normally brought a sweatshirt to the grocery store, suddenly cuss-worthy-roasting in the middle of a once-normal feeling room is an interesting phenomenon I haven’t gotten used to (although it is SO much better than morning sickness). And boy do I have new mad respect for my middle aged women friends, as well as a new complete fear of menopause.

What do the girls think?
When I said to Addie that we were going to have a baby, she got wide eyes, jumped on me, and hugged me around the neck, yelling “Yay! A baby!!” She is sure that it’s a sister, and has dubbed her Baby Belle, giving my stomach regular rasberries to make her laugh. In the unlikely instance it’s a boy, she said we’ll name him Shang. Obviously.
Bria’s response has thus far been “doh” and a renewed interest in bellybuttons.

Is Sheaff excited?
Dude, of course he is excited. However, his initial reaction to the news was 1) What? Oh my god. Wow. Oh wow. Really? This is a real thing? 2) This was definitely your idea. 3) We need a minivan. And then, you know, 4) Yay baby.  Yay Baby has been the lasting reaction. :)

Is it another girl, or will this one be a boy?
Obviously, we have a lot of control over this.
Sheaff’s answer is 100% confidence in a girl.
My answer, after being asked 1,000,341 times even before we were pregnant, will likely be an additional slightly rant-ish but well-intentioned blog.
The best answer is one Steve Koudelka gave when they were pregnant with their third. We remember folks asking what they were having, and his answer was “Another hellion, just like the other two.”  He speaks the truth.  Another hellion it is.

Are you sticking with the alphabet letters for a name?
We don’t know yet. But we are planning on naming the baby.

Did you mean to have 3? Will you have 4?
3- yes. 4- no. I’m a third! I’m partial. My fam got used to me after all; I was my parents’ favorite daughter and… well, after Marly… Jordan and Ty’s favorite sister.  So of course we needed a third! Being the third is fun!

When are you due/how far along are you?
I’m due April 6 (Marly’s birthday!), so 13 weeks along. However, we are 2 for 2 in having to induce early with that whole preeclampsia thing, so it’s quite possible this will be a March baby. Yes, that means we’ll have a newborn during March Madness. The perk: a 10:14 pm tip off will no longer be cause for a tantrum. We’ll be up anyways! Cameron Crazie training starts early for this baby.

How will you handle 3 kids?
HA. Funniest question ever. We don’t know!!!!!!!! But we will love them all!

We’re seriously excited for our family of 5, to watch Adalyn teach Bria to be a big sister, to watch Baby Belle survive said-big-sistering, and to see what new adventures this bambino has in store for us. We’re livin’ the dream, folks!
